TSGT Louis J. Clever, who was killed when his EC-47, callsign CAP 72 was shot down on 5 Feb 1969 in Laos will be interred at the Jefferson Barracks, MO on 22 May 2015. TSGT Clever’s remains, which were formerly interred in a communal grave with the entire CAP72 crew, were recently identified through DNA testing.
Funeral activities begin on May 21st when riders from the Patriot Guard of Missouri will escort TSGT Clever’s remains starting from Jackson, Mississippi. The procession will meet Paul Clever’s family in Southaven, Mississippi then cross into Arkansas and up though Missouri to St. Louis to the Kutis Funeral Home in Mehiville, MO. The funeral home’s address is 5255 Lemay Ferry Road, Mehlville, MO 63129, Phone (314) 894-4500. The Highway Patrol from each state will also provide an escort.
The funeral is scheduled to start at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery (Address: 2900 Sheridan Rd, St. Louis, MO 63125, Phone: (314) 845-8320) at 2:30 PM Central Time on 22 May 2015. Attached is a photo of the cemetery which shows where the ceremony will be held.
There will not be a formal ceremony in the chapel, but a brief ceremony at the nearby pavilion.
The message from the Clever Family is “This funeral has been going on for forty-five years. It is time to celebrate a life cut too short but lived very well.”
